OPEN SPACE AROUND MESSE FREIBURG
Let your ideas reach for the open sky. The 81,000 m² open area is perfect for open-air concerts, markets or as an extended exhibition space. In 1999, the exhibition ground at the airfield was opened with the Herbstmess’, the Freiburg funfair that takes place twice a year. But it’s not just the 35-metre-high Ferris wheel that impresses crowds in the open space. Pope Benedict XVI’s prayer vigil with young people was also held here to the delight of tens of thousands of people, as have incredible appearances from artists such as Die Toten Hosen, Iron Maiden and other German and international stars.

EVENT SPACE
The largest configurable open space in Freiburg is located on the Messe grounds. In the approx. 46,000 m² event space, there is plenty of scope for open-air concerts with up to 50,000 attendees. But it’s also possible to host smaller concerts here. The Freiburg Fair also takes place here twice a year, as well as various markets.
When it comes to infrastructure, the event site is perfectly equipped. Two permanent toilet facilities fully cover the needs of smaller events. There are many electrical junction boxes and water connections distributed across the site so it’s possible to configure the layout in any number of ways.
For open-air concerts, the production benefits from shared use of the exceptional infrastructure of the halls as required. Be it sharing the artist dressing rooms in the SICK-ARENA, generous crew catering in hall 1 or using the conference rooms with a view of the stage as a production office and security centre – you can rely on our tried-and-tested concepts.
PARKING AREA
A total of around 3,000 parking spaces are available in the grounds of the Messe itself. 1,204 of these spaces are located on the tarmacked and paved parking area right in front of the halls. Additional parking spaces can be created on the event space next to the Messe if required.
The 1,204 permanent spaces include:
- 41 disabled parking spaces
- 10 charging spaces for electric cars
- 20 motorbike spaces
- 11 taxi spaces
Our barrier system operates using number plate recognition to allow the car park to empty quickly even when it’s busy.
The parking area can also be combined with your event concept if required. In the case of a combined hall and open-air event, it’s possible to use the area right in front of the halls to keep walking distances to a minimum. Feel free to get in touch regarding the options.
