FWTM (Freiburg Wirtschaft Touristik und Messe GmbH & Co. KG) operates a total of three event venues on behalf of the city of Freiburg. Messe Freiburg is one of the biggest and most important venues, congress centres and event locations in southern Germany.
After opening in 2000, Messe Freiburg was massively extended in an elegant and resource-efficient way – a successful project that was awarded to Freiburg architect Detlef Sacker, who came first in the Wettbewerb guter Bauten 2002 run by the Association of German Architects.
Today, Messe Freiburg comprises three halls with varying uses, a multi-purpose event hall with an adjoining central foyer and modern conference rooms. The central foyer alone spans more than 2,000 m² and serves as an impressive entrance for large events, or as an additional exhibition space at trade fairs. Slim columns support the roof overhang and lend the building a sense of lightness. Galleries, open staircases and wooden cubes create an exciting spatial experience in the 200-metre continuous foyer.
Whether you’re running a trade fair, a TV production or a pop concert – anything is possible for up to 9,000 people in the 4,800 m² of the SICK-ARENA. The expansive multifunctional spaces with variable seating options provide scope for unique event concepts, especially specialist and public trade fairs, congresses and conferences, indoor and open-air concerts, TV shows, corporate events and large-scale events like the visit from the Dalai Lama or Pope Benedict XVI.
